Galectin-12, Human
Galectin-12, a member of the galectin family, is formed from β-galactoside binding proteins, which have conserved carbohydrate recognition domains. The Galectin-12 gene encoded protein expressed an adipocyte, which can be downregulated by various Insulin resistance-inducing hormones. Research show that galectin-12 may be involved in the pathogenesis of Insulin resistance.
